Taqleed fends off Naqshabban
Taqleed (12-1) saw off Naqshabban in a tight finish to the Dubai Duty Free Handicap at Newbury.
The winner, trained by John Gosden, came with a surging run down the outside of the field and was persuaded by jockey Tadgh O'Shea to put his head in-front 50 yards from the line.
Runner-up Naqshabban (11-1) held every chance but just couldn't match the winner at the end of their protracted duel.
Gosden said: "I had him in the Leger until the last minute and he lost his way a bit in a dry spring.
"He likes the trip and doesn't have to be ridden like that - he came from last to first."
Mark Johnston's Master Of Arts stayed on well for third at 33-1, with First Post (40-1) filling the fourth and final place.
