Moonlight Cloud was a clear-cut winner of the Prix Maurice De Gheest Goldikova at Deauville.

Freddie Head's charge was alway stravelling strongly under Thierry Jarnet and sprinted clear of her rivals inside the final furlong.

Society Rock ran a cracker in second for James Fanshawe with Marchand d'Or just edging out Roger Charlton's veteran campaigner Genki for third.

Wootton Bassett was prominent for a long way and ran his best race of the season in fifth but Dream Ahead was never a factor.

"I knew she was a very good filly and I thought she had a first-class chance."
Freddie Head Quotes of the week

Foret plan

Head said: "I knew she was a very good filly and I thought she had a first-class chance.

"We had a perfect run, the jockey rode a brilliant race and she does exactly what she does in the morning.

"In the 1000 Guineas we had a bad run because the starter put her in the stalls too early and she missed the start.

"We may run her in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp, but we'll see.

"There is no plan yet."
