Weld: Third successive win in Leopardstown feature
Dermot Weld and Pat Smullen won the Ballyroan Stakes for the third successive season as Sense Of Purpose struck at Leopardstown.
The winning jockey shone aboard the Betfred Ebor entry who made all before repelling the late thrust of favourite Marksmanship by half-a-length.
Mount Athos, who is also entered in the Ebor, finished fourth under Jamie Spencer but Weld offered no indication that York is on Sense Of Purpose's radar.
He said: "This is such a courageous filly. If you could parcel her courage into all racehorses, you'd have a superstar. It was also a wonderful ride from Pat.
"The Irish Leger is a definite possibility, but we'll see what is likely to be in the race. The Park Hill at Doncaster may also be an option. The Melbourne Cup is a possibility, but next year."
