Lexi's Hero: Likely to step up in class following York win

Lexi's Hero bounced back to his best form to win the Bond Tyres Trophy at York.

Kevin Ryan's charge was never a factor behind Saturday's rivals Majestic Myles and Desert Law atNewmarket last time and was sent off as a 20-1 chance on the Knavesmire.

However having grabbed the rail from his berth in stall 18, he was prominent throughout and ran on strongly to see off Cocktail Charlie and Acclamazing who dead-heated for second.

Swiss Dream was fourth while those who backed Majestic Myles each-way with Sky Bet were paid out as he was fifth.

Lazy worker

"He'd become a bit lazy in his work so I told Jamie to bounce him out and even if he felt like he was going a stride too quick to kick on," said Ryan.

"He had to make his mind up for him but he's a talented horse.

"He's run his heart and soul out there so he'll have a good month off now. We'll see what the handicapper does but I imagine it will be a Listed race next."

  • Lexi's Hero was a 25-1 value bet selection from our Dave Ord.
