Drunken Sailor: Scored under Kieren Fallon
Drunken Sailor landed the JLT Aston Park Stakes at Newbury in decisive fashion.
Sent off at 4-1 under Kieren Fallon, the Luca Cumani-trained gelding hit the front going well with more than a furlong to run and soon sauntered clear.
Polly's Mark (6-4 favourite) ran on from off the pace for second but Clive Cox's filly was never in the hunt for gold.
Akmal faded late on having made most of the running under Richard Hills.
Fallon said: "I probably got to the front too soon as he idles.
"He's come on a ton over the winter and he's developed into a nice horse."
Matt Cumani, the trainer's son and assistant, added: "The key to him is a strong pace and not to get in front too soon.
"I don't know what the target will be, but you wouldn't want to step him up in trip at the moment.
"One of the owners wants to go back to Australia for the Melbourne Cup but we'll have to see."
