World Domination wins at Newbury
Henry Cecil's World Domination has been the subject of plenty of positive gallop reports over the past couple of months and made a most taking racecourse debut in the totesport 0800 221 221 Maiden Stakes at Newbury.
The 3-1 chance was settled in the middle of the pack by Tom Queally and was produced down the centre of the track after the turn for home.
Queally was looking round for dangers approaching the two-furlong marker and once he asked his mount a question, the response was impressive as World Domination quickened up smartly to put the race to bed.
It was his stablemate Solar Sky who came from out of the pack to fill the runner-up spot, but World Domination was three and three-quarter lengths too good as he streaked clear in the manner of a very smart colt.
Cecil said: "He will come on a lot, but he is more grown up than I expected. He travelled through the race like an old handicapper.
"I said to the Prince (Khalid Abdullah, owner) at the last (supplementary) stage that we should put him in the Derby, just in case he was a Derby or a King Edward VII horse.
"I'm not sure what I will do with him, he needs another race and we will have to see whether I go for one of the Derby trials or maybe take him to Newmarket for a trial.
"I did it (won the Derby with an unraced three-year-old) with Commander In Chief and we will see how he progresses.
"He had back problems last year and I couldn't get a run into him, so to win first time out was quite impressive."
He added: "The second one has run a great race too and he needs a trip."
