Nideeb: Winter Derby winner
Clive Brittain's Nideeb won the Sportingbet Supports Heros Winter Derby at Lingfield on Saturday.
The 9-4 favourite hugged the inside rail throughout and kicked on from the home turn, scooting three lengths clear before idling in front late on.
Philip Robinson kept the four-year-old up to his work, with the winning distance a length and a half at the line.
Clive Cox's Dansili Dancer (4-1) stayed on for second with Pachattack (4-1) back in third.
Robinson said: "It's nice to get the ball rolling (with Brittain) again. It (riding Pebbles) seems a long time ago now.
"I'm hoping this horse can show the same sort of class on the grass as on the all-weather, as he could make up into a very, very nice horse."
Veteran Newmarket trainer Brittain said: "I'm absolutely delighted with him. This had been the plan for some time to come here.
"I'll have to talk to Saeed (Manana, owner) and discuss it, but I would not be surprised if he ended up going to Italy for a Group One. He's useful, and races in Turkey are worth a lot of money too.
"Something has to be done about prize money over here."
