Bridgefield strikes for Godolphin at Doncaster
Bridgefield was promoted to the Godolphin first colours in the Tool@rrest Drop Stops Here EBF Maiden at Doncaster on Friday, and he ran out a ready winner.
With Frankie Dettori's intended mount Al Biruni a non-runner at Town Moor, Ahmed Ajtebi was able to don the blue cap and his partner was always travelling strongly.
In control from the two-furlong marker, the son of Speightstown stayed on powerfully to beat Kirthill by a length-and-a-quarter.
Connections felt the winner was happier on this faster ground, having finished third on his Newmarket debut.
Ajtebi said of the 9-2 co-favourite: "He was very relaxed and jumped well. He is still a big baby but I never had to use my stick. He will be a good horse next year."
