King Torus wins at Newmarket.
Richard Hannon claimed yet another juvenile Group race at Newmarket's July meeting through King Torus in the 32Red.com Superlative Stakes.
Richard Hughes had been suspended for Thursday, missing out on further success for the team, but resumed duties on a colt who had been fourth in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot.
King Torus (7-2) seemed to have got the better of the leader Ecliptic when his rival drifted alarmingly to the right but Ahmed Ajtebi regathered himself to close to within a neck.
Hannon's son and assistant Richard junior said: "He did everything wrong at Royal Ascot so we put a chifney bridle on today.
"He did that very nicely and we might look for a race for him at Deauville.
"Later on there's the Dewhurst and the Gran Criterium in Italy to think about."
Mahmood Al Zarooni said of the runner-up: "He gave Ahmed a very hard ride but he is inexperienced and is improving with every race."
The 11-8 favourite, Railway Stakes winner Formosina, dropped away to be last.
