Tranquil Tiger - won feature.
Tom Queally's skilful front-running effort was enough for Tranquil Tiger to land the fifth Listed race of his career in the Festival Stakes at Goodwood.
The Irishman has more pressure on his young shoulders this season as first jockey to Henry Cecil, but seems to excel aboard a horse who would appear to be one of the stable's more difficult rides - winning on three of the four occasions they have combined.
Queally seized a lead of about five lengths with half a mile to go and the 11-4 favourite was still cruising at the two-pole.
It was only inside the final furlong that distress signals started to show and Halicarnassus eventually closed right down to within a neck.
"We didn't want to ride him as boldly as we usually do as we felt he would probably need his first run of the season a bit, but he kept galloping and thankfully he held on," said Queally.
"I find him a very easy horse to ride and I was impressed with the way he settled.
"It's not for me to say where he goes next, but we should have some fun with him."
