The Roger Varian-trained gelding is first reserve for the valuable Heritage Handicap following the 48-hour final declaration stage.

Perfect Heart has been ante-post favourite with most bookmakers, and a 3lb penalty for a seasonal debut success at Doncaster two weeks ago has taken him within touching distance of a place in the maximum 17-runner line-up.

He has been given a stall position of 12 should any of the horses above be withdrawn by 9am on Tuesday morning. The second reserve is Jonjo O'Neill's Masquerading.

Montaser will now carry top weight of 9st 10lb and will race from stall one after El Salvador was taken out at the final declaration stage. Tropical Beat and de Rigueur were the other withdrawals.

Connections of Glenard can breath a huge sigh of relief as Charlie Hills's four-year-old just made the cut as number 17 on the card.

Angel Gabrial, representing last year's winning owner Dr Marwan Koukash and trainer Richard Fahey, plus the Tom Dascombe-trained Brockwell were the other two to benefit from those defections.
