Sprinter Sacre: Faces five rivals when he returns to action at Kempton

Sprinter Sacre will face five rivals when he makes his eagerly anticipated seasonal reappearance in the Desert Orchid Chase at Kempton on Friday.

Nicky Henderson's brilliant and unbeaten chaser was forced to miss his intended return in the Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown, a race won by Sire De Grugy, because of an unsatisfactory scope.

Gary Moore's charge was an impressive winner at the Esher track and looks the most dangerous opponent for Sprinter Sacre at Kempton, arriving in peak form and race fit.

Paul Nicholls has opted to run Fago rather than Kauto Stone while Oiseau de Nuit, Astracad and Tataniano complete the field.

Henderson is delighted to get Sprinter Sacre back in action, but he is far from expecting a walkover.

"He's in good form," he said.

When asked about facing such a talented and in-form rival as Sire De Grugy, the Seven Barrows trainer replied: "It maybe good for some people.

"It will be interesting and we will have to see what happens. It's his first run of the year and on soft ground, so it's going to be tough.

"It's good he's back on the track and it's very good of Kempton to put extra money into the race. It's much appreciated."
