Reroute: Lines up in Molecomb
Trainer Ed Walker is hoping Reroute can continue the fine recent record of fillies in the bet365 Molecomb Stakes, when she lines up for the Group Three contest at Goodwood on Tuesday.
Fillies have notched 14 wins in the five-furlong dash for two-year-olds since 1981 and Reroute and the David Evans-trained Majestic Alexander both look to have decent chances in a final field of nine.
Reroute has shown a good level of form in just two starts to date. After making a winning debut in a York in mid-June she was given a stiff task the following week.
Walker ran her in the Group Two Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, where she was a creditable fifth behind Rizeena.
"She ran a blinder at Royal Ascot. It was a bit unfair of me to ask her to run there just five days after making a winning racecourse debut," said the Newmarket handler.
"She was only a head off making the frame and beaten less than four lengths in total.
"Red Gulch gave me my first Glorious Goodwood winner in my first full season (2011) - that was a pretty special day.
"Reroute will be my main runner at the meeting this year."
A short-head separated Supplicant, trained by Richard Fahey, and Hannon's Anticipated, when they were second third in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, and they are also in the line-up.
