Trumpet Major: Lines up at Ascot
Ascot's Group Two Fred Cowley MBE Memorial Summer Mile has attracted a decent field of 13, including Aljamaaheer and Trade Storm.
A contest that has often in the past failed to draw the numbers of runners that it should this year looks a fascinating affair, made even more interesting by the fact that a number of the big-name riders are in action at Newmarket or York instead.
The situation means Hayley Turner comes in for the ride aboard the Richard Fahey-trained Gabrial, William Carson partners Red Jazz for Charlie Hills and Pat Dobbs is on the Richard Hannon-trained Trumpet Major.
However other outfits have called up their first-choice riders to the meeting and Paul Hanagan is aboard Aljamaaheer, second to Declaration Of War in the Queen Anne Stakes last time out, with Jamie Spencer on Trade Storm, fifth in the same contest.
The remainder of the runners are: Aesop's Fables, Afsare, Famous Poet, Guest Of Honour, Mull Of Killough, Pastoral Player, Premio Loco and Stirring Ballad.
