Mister Hyde: Needs to bounce back

Mister Hyde: Needs to bounce back

Join Together was the only absentee after 13 horses stood their ground at the declaration stage for Saturday's Racing Plus Chase.

The David Bridgwater-trained Wyck Hill was bought by leading owner JP McManus on Wednesday and a good performance in this £100,000 event could see him take up his entries in the Cheltenham Gold Cup and Grand National.

Rolling Aces has been progressing steadily for champion trainer Paul Nicholls and appears to have been saved for this race since winning easily at Wincanton on Boxing Day.

The same yard also run top-weight What A Friend, who is being aimed at the Grand National, for the first time this season.

Trainer Tom George has always said that three miles around Kempton on decent ground are the optimum conditions for Nacarat and he proved last year that he is no back number. He returns off just a 1lb higher mark.

Philip Hobbs has a cracking record in the race with four previous victories and has two chances with Duke Of Lucca and former winner Quinz.

Hector's Choice, second to Nacarat 12 months ago, is back again, while the novice Opening Batsman represents Harry Fry.

Same Difference, the Nicky Henderson duo of Roberto Goldback and Quantitativeeasing, Summery Justice and Mister Hyde complete the line-up.

Trainer Jonjo O'Neill is hoping for a better showing from Mister Hyde, after he flopped at Sandown last time out.

"The jury's out a bit on him now after that run, because there didn't seem to be any excuses," said the trainer.

"It was very testing but he's handled that sort of ground without a problem before and he just dropped out very quickly.

"But we couldn't find anything wrong with him afterwards so hopefully he can bounce back."
