John Oxx: Time is short for My Titania

John Oxx admits he would prefer to have an extra week before launching My Titania back into the fray in the Kilboy Estate Stakes on Sunday week.

The four-year-old daughter of Sea The Stars has been plagued by bad luck in her career, limited to just two starts last term, including a fourth place at Royal Ascot, and one outing so far this campaign.

She disappointed on her return at Listed level as she finished last of four runners after taking a keen hold, but Oxx is eager to see how she fares in the nine-furlong race at the Curragh - an event in which she finished third last year.

The Currabeg trainer told At The Races: "She's been an unfortunate filly, she's never had a clean run of luck at all.

"She just had a little problem after Leopardstown and we're hoping to have her right for the Kilboy Stakes, but time is short - an extra week would help her, but we've got a good 50-50 chance.

"I think she's a good filly, whether she's a Group One filly I don't know, but she's run in the Coronation Stakes and she ran well there.

"She's a Group Three winner and we've got to see if she can move up a little bit from that or even win another Group Three.

"She has plenty of ability and can certainly do better than she has done up to now, but that's horses for you - you have to get a good, clean run with them and missing training days and races just doesn't help."
