Tim Easterby is plotting a raid on the Weatherbys Super Sprint with his impressive Ripon winner Excessable.

Bought for just £6,000, the shrewd Great Habton handler and his team obviously knew what they had on their hands as the Sakhee's Secret colt was well backed prior to making his debut in April.

Excessable was not extended in winning by three and a half lengths but he will not go to Royal Ascot, with the valuable Newbury event on July 18 on the agenda.

Easterby said: "He's perfectly fine but he won't be going to Ascot.

"He'll go to Newbury for the Super Sprint. It's worth more money and because he cost next to nothing he'll have barely any weight.
