Ryan Moore will partner the well-backed Giovanni Canaletto in the Investec Derby at Epsom on Saturday.

Aidan O'Brien's colt has been the subject of strong support for the premier Classic and will now have the assistance of a world-class jockey.

Giovanni Canaletto, who finished second on his seasonal bow in a Group Three at the Curragh on May 24, is an 8/1 chance with Sky Bet for the big race, having been twice that price only 24 hours earlier.

Coolmore tweeted that Joseph O'Brien will ride stablemate Kilimanjaro, while Hans Holbein is the mount of Seamie Heffernan.

Moore has also been given the go-ahead to ride the O'Brien-trained Tapestry in the Investec Coronation Cup.

A son of Galileo, Giovanni Canaletto is a full-brother to 2013 Derby hero Ruler Of The World and a half-brother to five-time Group One winner Duke Of Marmalade, who missed his intended Derby prep in the Chester Vase but returned to the track when chasing home Curvy in the Gallinule Stakes at the Curragh on May 24.

O'Brien said on At The Races: "[I'm] very happy, he was coming home very well. Obviously it was only a couple of weeks ago.

"We had planned that he would go to Chester but we didn’t get him there in time, he seems to be in very good form.

"Obviously it’s a little quicker than ideal but he seems to have come out of the race in good form. We were very happy, our horse finished very well. Maybe the line just came a shade too early but our horse ran a great race."

In Giovanni Canaletto's absence, stablemate Hans Holbein claimed the Chester Vase and there are no stamina doubts where he is concerned.

"He’s a horse that looked like getting a mile and a half well, wouldn’t mind an ease in the ground and like I said probably will end up getting further than a mile and a half," said O'Brien.

The other Ballydoyle contender is Kilimanjaro, who won the Lingfield Derby Trial last month.

O'Brien said: "He won his maiden at Dundalk then went to Lingfield and won nicely, got the mile and a half well. He’s a big cruiser and came home well that day, so listen, it’s setting up nice for him as well.

“I think the better the ground will suit everybody. It will give a nice proper fair race and it will suit everybody really."
