Kalane is to stay hurdling next season after her good effort behind Annie Power at Punchestown.

Having just the fifth race of her career, Charlie Longsdon's six-year-old ran on strongly into third, suggesting she has a very bright future ahead of her.

"For a novice having just her fifth run over hurdles, it was a tremendous effort," said Longsdon.

"Also, she'd won over two miles and five furlongs last time out so we know she's better over further.

"We'd hoped she'd be running on at the end to claim some black type and that is exactly what she did, so we're delighted.

"She's come out of it fine, we knew what the favourite was but none of the others scared us.
