Trainer John Gosden paid tribute to Elusive Kate after the high-class mare died while giving birth to her first foal.
The six-year-old, owned by Teruya Yoshida, won four Group Ones, including the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket in 2013, during a decorated career.
She was retired in the autumn of that year after finishing fifth behind Olympic Glory in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes on Champions Day at Ascot.
Gosden told the Times: "She was a lovely filly with a great pedigree.
"It's very sad for Mr Yoshida."
