Our star columnist, top trainer Richard Fahey, brings us a horse-by-horse guide to his Saturday team.

We’ve runners at three meetings on Saturday and I’m looking forwards to Lacing’s return to action in the Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury.

Tiggy Wiggy is in there and if she stays she’ll beat us all, but I don’t train her and there have to be some doubts over whether she’ll get the seven. Lacing is in very good form, she’s very fit and very well and I couldn’t be happier with her. If she was placed I’d be delighted.

We’ve two in the Be Wiser Insurance Spring Cup. Gabrial has drawn 22 which is the very place I wouldn’t want to be. However I can’t do anything about that and I just hope there’s pace around him to drag him into the race.  He’s in very good form at home and it’s not impossible he’ll overcome the draw.

Latest Racing Stories

Loving Spirit is having his first start for us and we’ve been pleased with everything he’s done at home. It will be interesting to see how he goes and I wouldn’t think there’d be much between my pair.

Woodbridge is a bit in-and-out and runs in the thirskracecourse.net For Discounted Tickets Online Handicap. Stall 14 wouldn’t be the ideal spot for him but he has the ability to win races like this – if he puts his best foot forward.

Our Boy Jack is in great form at home ahead of the Yorkshire Outdoors Adventure Experiences Handicap. He’s fine on the forecast good ground but is better when there’s a bit of cut and I can’t see any rain in the forecast to help us.

I’d love to see Heaven’s Guest go and win the ebfstallions.com Michael Foster Conditions Stakes. It’s a tight contest on ratings but we might just be the one to beat. I thought he ran ok the first day and seven furlongs here is more his trip.

Johnny B Goode finished fourth to another horse of ours, Grandad’s World, at Pontefract first time out. I thought he ran well there but was just about where the handicapper wanted him. He’s won over five furlongs before so the trip won’t be an issue in the Join The Racing UK Club Handicap. He tries very hard and you can never draw a line through him.

Shalabina heads to Nottingham for the Most Reliable Bet DG Taxis Maiden Stakes.  She ran a good race on her only start at two at Doncaster and that was a surprise as she doesn’t show a lot at home. She’s bred to stay and I think she will so the trip won’t be a problem and if she’s in the same form as last time she won’t be far away

Stardrifter is a funny little horse who won a seller by a long way last season but was a bit in and out. He’ll love the fast ground in the Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Handicap and it’s just really a question of whether he’s good enough.

Finally Cosmic Statesman runs in the Nottingham Interactive Handicap. I’ve been a bit disappointed with him, his work has been pretty ordinary, and I’m starting him out over a trip here.

He should stay, he’s related to a Royal Ascot winner of ours, and I just hope he’s one of those who save their best for the track.
