Lucky Kristale limbers up for York return

George Margarson is leaning towards starting Lucky Kristale off in the Duke of York Stakes in May.

The Newmarket handler has identified the six-furlong Group Two contest on the Knavesmire as a potential comeback run for the the four-year-old, who went into last season as a Classic contender.

But after winning both the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes and Lowther Stakes as a two-year-old, the daughter of Lucky Story failed to feature in three outings.

In her final appearance of last season Lucky Kristale finished eighth behind Kiyoshi in the Sceptre Stakes at Doncaster.

Margarson said: "Lucky Kristale is on target. She might run in the Abernant Stakes at the Craven meeting, but I am more likely to wait and go for the Duke of York in May.

"We have not been hard on her yet, but she has done plenty enough so far.
