Officials at Wetherby do not foresee major problems from the possibility of wintry weather affecting their meeting on Saturday.

While a cold snap bringing snow is forecast mainly to the north and west, it is not expected to threaten the fixture at the West Yorkshire track, featuring the Grade Two totepool Towton Novices' Chase.

"I'm not concerned at all. It's going to get cold but I'm not expecting any particularly inclement wintry weather," said clerk of the course Jonjo Sanderson.

"We might get a flurry of snow on Thursday, but then Friday is supposed to be bright, sunny and 5C, maybe minus 1C on Friday night, but Saturday is supposed to be 5C as well.

"There's nothing that is giving me any concern at this stage."
