Kempton's BetBright Chase on February 21 remains the aim for Present View after his run over hurdles on Saturday.
Jamie Snowden's stable star was not disgraced when sixth in a trial for the Neptune Novices' Hurdle, won by the Alan King-trained Ordo Ab Chao.
He will return to fences next month in a race Snowden has always had in his mind for his Cheltenham Festival winner.
"Kempton is definitely still the plan," said the Lambourn handler. "He ran a nice race and still had every chance turning in before he was done for a bit of speed running to the last.
"He had a nice blow afterwards and I hope it was the perfect prep for the BetBright.
"He had jumped his way into contention coming down the hill but just lacked a bit of speed when a gap appeared on the rail and Brendan (Powell, jockey) then sat up on him after jumping the last.
"It was a case of job done and he didn't pick up a cut, like he did before the Paddy Power. His main asset is his jumping as he makes lengths at his fences.
"I think he'll prove suited to three miles as he was outpaced early on at the Festival last year."
