Kauto Grand Mogol will not run again until the autumn after recovering from a cut leg sustained when he finished fourth at Cheltenham last month.

Trainer Liz Doyle felt there was not enough time to have the seven-year-old race-fit for the Punchestown Festival after he had to recuperate from the injury incurred in the Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle.

The County Wexford trainer will use the extra time to school Kauto Grand Mogol over fences to see if he takes to the bigger obstacles.

"He scanned fine and he's back cantering. We weren't going to get him ready fitness-wise for Punchestown after his cut leg," said Doyle.

"We had to stand him for 10-12 days with his cut, but he's 100 per cent and out in the field. He'll be back in the autumn.

"We're going to give him a pop over a fence and see how he gets on. He's not the biggest in the world, but he does jump beautifully so we may dip our toe in and have a look and see how he progresses.

"If he is good, we might give him a try and then see how it goes. He's not huge, but he's got a good technique."
