Nina Carberry will have another chance at becoming the first woman to ride the Crabbie's Grand National winner at Aintree next month.
The 30-year-old, who has had four rides in the National, completing the course three times and finishing seventh on Character Building in 2010, has been booked by Mouse Morris to ride First Lieutenant.
Morris was left needing a jockey for the Gigginstown House Stud owned runner with their retained rider Bryan Cooper suspended.
Winner of the Grade One Betfred Bowl over the Mildmay fences at Aintree in 2013, the 10-year-old has not quite been the force of old of late but was second to Boston Bob in the Punchestown Gold Cup under 12 months ago and Morris believes that he could well bounce back to his best in the spring spectacular.
He told the Guardian: "He's got as good a chance as any. I was fourth in it one year (with Lastofthebrownies in 1989) and he'd have a better chance than that one.
"He's got a bit of class but you also need a bit of luck."
Carberry has never ridden First Lieutenant in a race but Morris revealed that the pair had schooled well together over a National-style fence in recent days.
