Royal Ascot and Breeders' Cup hero Hootenanny remains under consideration for the QIPCO 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 2.

Wesley Ward's American challenger was a stunning winner of the Windsor Castle Stakes in Berkshire last June and was only narrowly denied by The Wow Signal in August's Prix Morny at Deauville.

He rounded off his juvenile campaign by beating stable companion Luck Of The Kitten in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf at Santa Anita in the hands of Frankie Dettori and could return to Britain to bid for Classic glory this spring.

Ward said: "He's going great. He had a nice workout this morning and we're really happy with him.

"We're thinking about it (2000 Guineas). We lost a little time due to the weather here in Kentucky during the winter, but the race is the first Saturday in May, so we should be right on it.

"I'll know more when I work him on the grass in a week."

Hootenanny, who carries the colours of the Coolmore team, might not be Ward's only Classic aspirant, with Sunset Glow a possible contender for the 1000 Guineas.

The three-year-old was a Grade One winner last season and was runner-up in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

"She's doing well and she could go to Newmarket as well. We'll see," said Ward.
