John Ferguson eyes Kempton not Leopardstown for Three Kingdoms

John Ferguson is leaning towards running exciting prospect Three Kingdoms in the williamhill.com Novices' Chase at Kempton on Saturday, rather than take him to Leopardstown for the Racing Post Novice Chase a day earlier.

Unextended in beating Thomas Crapper at Leicester in November, he was then even more impressive at Newcastle in very soft ground which would not have suited.

The Kempton Grade Two, registered as the Wayward Lad Novices' Chase, now looks a logical target.

"Three Kingdoms is training himself at the moment because after Newcastle my idea was to give him a break and send him for the Lightning at Doncaster but he's come back bouncing," Ferguson told At The Races.

"I probably won't go to Leopardstown with him and instead I'll run him in the Wayward Lad Novices' Chase at Kempton on the 27th.

"He's giving me every indication that he wants to carry on and one has to listen sometimes. He'll probably go to Kempton where the ground will be much better for him."
