Filipino Wrecking Machine ready for stern test

Middleweight title contender Mark Munoz is aiming to make a statement of intent when he faces Chris Weidman at UFC on Fuel 4. Munoz is on a four-fight winning streak, but injury has forced him out of action since November 2011when he sealed an impressive TKO victory over Chris Leben. In that time Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen have faced off in a No.1 contender match, Sonnen has challenged champion Anderson Silva for the belt and a whole host of Middleweights have claimed they are deserving of a title opportunity. But Munoz believes he is the true heir to Silva's throne and intends to showcase his credentials in San Jose. "When [other fighters] talk stuff like that they must be crazy, out of their minds," he told UFC.com. "The one that deserves a title shot is me. They lost and they are talking about title shots right now. "It doesn't make sense to me...I haven't been as vocal before, but now let the games begin."

Undefeated

However, Weidman is no mug and is undefeated (8-0) in his fledgling MMA career - with Demian Maia the latest fighter to succumb to his excellent wrestling talents. Indeed, online betting company Sky Bet see the youngster as 4/6 favourite to end Munoz's winning run, with the 'Filipino Wrecking Machine' narrow outsider at 6/5. Munoz added: "I see a really good fighter [in Weidman]. I see a very good up and coming guy. Someone that is very well rounded, somebody that is very tough. "He's a good fighter but I see myself exploiting the things I saw in him in his last fight. Without giving too much away, I'm going to be who I am inside the Octagon. "I'm going to force my will on him. It's no secret that I'm gonna throw bombs wherever I am." See all of Sky Bet's UFC markets here.
