Roman Reigns and Randy Orton will square off at SummerSlam.

Reigns accepted Orton’s challenge of a match in Los Angeles on the August 4 edition of Raw, meaning the WWE Universe will get to see the Superstars in a pay-per-view singles encounter for the first time.

Reigns and Orton have scrapped on the biggest stages before, of course, most recently in the WWE World Heavyweight Title Fatal Four-Way at Battleground and in a Ladder Match at Money in the Bank.

Orton also grappled with Reigns in the latter’s debut WrestleMania in 2013, teaming with Sheamus and Big Show to tackle the ex-gridiron player and his then-Shield colleagues Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose.

The Viper united with Evolution cohorts Batista and Triple H to take on The Shield at this year’s Extreme Rules and Payback events, too, with both matches going the way of the Hounds of Justice.

But SummerSlam will see Orton and Reigns go one-on-one in a match that has been in the pipeline ever since Reigns attacked Orton and prevented him from being named as No. 1 contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

It was also revealed on Raw that SummerSlam will witness the first official clash between Rollins and Ambrose after the friends-turned foes’ scheduled bout at Battleground ended in chaos.

Ambrose jumped Rollins last month whilst The Architect indulged in a pre-contest interview and, after twice being ejected from the arena, snuck into the boot of his enemy’s car and battered him further.

The warring duo have not left each other alone in the subsequent weeks and their beef, which developed when Rollins whacked Ambrose and Reigns with a steel chair and joined forces with The Authority, will be plain for all to see in the City of Angels.

Taunted

During Miz's acceptance speech after winning the Intercontinental Championship, both Bo Dallas and Dolph Ziggler decided to crash MizTV.

Dolph Ziggler, however, will be fighting for gold in the Staples Center when he tackles Intercontinental Champion The Miz.

The Show-Off came agonisingly close to plucking the belt when he eliminated Sheamus from the Battleground Battle Royal, only to be sucker-punched by The Miz and tossed over the top rope.

The Awesome One has taunted Ziggler since then – and nearly had his face aka his “Moneymaker” bashed in as a result – but must now back up his words with his in-ring acumen.

Plus, AJ Lee and Paige’s rivalry will come to a head at SummerSlam when they scrap for the Divas Championship.

Lee lost the garland to the Brit the night after WrestleMania XXX but won it back the evening following Money in the Bank and successfully defended the strap against her rival again at Battleground.

Paige flipped after those two reverses, attacking Lee on Raw and shoving her off the stage on Smackdown, so their brawl at SummerSlam now has added spice.

SummerSlam will be shown live on Sky Sports Box Office and Sky Sports HD Box Office at 1am, on Sunday (Monday) August 17, with repeat programmes available until the following Saturday.
