But The Undertaker's Show of Shows streak broken by Brock Lesnar

There was joy for Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania XXX - but despair for The Undertaker.

Bryan had every fan in New Orleans' Mercedes-Benz Superdome shouting "Yes" after capturing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but The Phenom saw his legendary unbeaten streak at the Show of Shows conquered by Brock Lesnar.

Bryan battled long-time nemesis Triple H in the opening match in the Big Easy, with both men knowing that whoever won would join Randy Orton and Batista in the main-event title tussle later on.

And it was the bearded grappler who prevailed, kicking out of two Pedigrees and downing WWE's Chief Operating Officer - who had emerged for the contest wearing a golden skull mask - with his patented running knee to the face.

Bryan was subjected to a post-bout beat-down by an irate King of Kings, putting his place in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship encounter in doubt, but there was to be no stopping the submission specialist.

Bryan survived a Batista Bomb-RKO combo through the announce desk that forced him to be placed on a stretcher, as well as Triple H trying to get crooked referee Scott Armstrong to officiate the match.

And after battering the King of Kings with a sledgehammer, Bryan kneed Batista, caught him in the "Yes!" Lock, forced The Animal to tap out, and held his garlands aloft as the confetti streamed down.

Rubberstamping

The Undertaker, however, was taken to a nearby medical facility in the wake of his stunning defeat to Lesnar, The Demon of Death Valley's maiden defeat at the Showcase of the Immortals.

The Undertaker lost his first WrestleMania match on Sunday, to Brock Lesnar

The Deadman had floored the likes of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Batista, Edge, Orton and CM Punk at WrestleMania en route to collecting a 21-0 record, but the Beast Incarnate shattered that blemish-free run by pinning Taker after a third F5.

Elsewhere, The Shield made light work of Kane, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn - rubberstamping their victory by triple power-bombing both New Age Outlaws - while AJ Lee retained her Divas Championship by submitting Naomi in a 14-female fight.

Cesaro won the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, lastly eliminating Big Show, after he and Jack Swagger, as well as Los Matadores and RybAxel, had failed to prise The Usos' Tag Team Titles on the 'Mania pre-show.

Plus, John Cena dug deep to overcome Bray Wyatt's mind games and pin the Eater of Worlds following a near 23-minute duel, whiles there was meeting of the greats to kick off the 30th edition of WWE's biggest event.

Hulk Hogan, the host of this year's gala, had barely opened his mouth - though he did get confused, thinking 'Mania was being held in the Silverdome, not the Superdome - before "Stone Cold" Steve Austin entered the fray.

And The Rock emerged moments later, with the three luminaries praising each other, spouting their signature catchphrases, and sharing beers in a segment that sent the WWE Universe wild.
