Punk: emerged victorious on a frantic edition of Smackdown
A tag-team tussle turned into a six-Superstar slugfest and, finally, a 12-man melee on a manic edition of Friday Night Smackdown.
Cody Rhodes and Goldust kept hold of their WWE Tag Team Titles after The Shield's Dean Ambrose interfered in their clash with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns - but they were swiftly put back into action.
The Rhodes brothers united with CM Punk - who had rushed to the ring with a steel chair in hand following Ambrose's nefarious actions - to take on all three members of The Shield, though once again no winner was decided.
The Wyatt Family emerged from the shadows in the heat of battle and set their sights on Punk, Rhodes and Goldust - who were subsequently aided by the onrushing Uso brothers and masked crusader Rey Mysterio.
Smackdown general manager Vickie Guerrero reacted to the carnage by pitting Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, Ambrose, Rollins and Reigns against Rhodes, Goldust, Punk, The Usos and Mysterio in a 12-man main event - in which the fan favourites prevailed.
Elsewhere, Los Matadores and their bull, El Torito, beat 3MB - or the Plymouth Rockers as they were named for the night - while Mark Henry squashed Curtis Axel with the World's Strongest Slam.
Brodus Clay admonished Xavier Woods for using his entrance music and being flanked by the Funkadactyls on Raw - and then banded with Tons of Funk comrade Tensai to conquer the dance enthusiast and his partner, R-Truth.
Titus O'Neil, meanwhile, bested The Great Khali in an eating contest to earn a match with Real American grappler Antonio Cesaro - but the Prime Time Player's consumption came back to haunt him.
O'Neil lost to Cesaro via disqualification when his buddy Darren Young stopped the Swiss star from executing the Cesaro Swing - before the former American Footballer vomited into JBL's hat.
