Orton: clashed with Del Rio on Friday Night Smackdown

Randy Orton has had quite the week.

The Viper defeated Rob Van Dam, CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Christian and Sheamus to snare the WWE Championship Money in the Bank briefcase on Sunday and then knocked off the dance-loving Fandango the next evening on Raw.

But Orton's winning streak continued on Friday Night Smackdown when he countered Alberto Del Rio's Cross Armbreaker and hit the World Heavyweight Champion with an RKO to win a high-octane non-title encounter.

Paul Heyman was also a prominent figure on Smackdown, dishing out a warning to friend-turned-foe CM Punk and playing a pivotal role as his client Curtis Axel retained the Intercontinental Championship.

The former ECW head honcho guested on MizTV and told Punk - the man he had prevented from winning the WWE Title contract at Money in the Bank in Philadelphia - to steer clear of the WWE or risk being assaulted further by Brock Lesnar.

And Heyman then distracted the referee long enough for Axel to seize control of his clash with Chris Jericho, level Y2J with a swinging neckbreaker and record the three-count - before Jericho was handed a post-match beat-down by Ryback.

Elsewhere, Dolph Ziggler conquered Jack Swagger, Rob Van Dam pinned Darren Young in his first Smackdown appearance in eight years, and Daniel Bryan, the number one contender to the WWE Championship, forced Britain's Wade Barrett to tap out.

Plus, The Usos' tag-team duel with Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns ended in a no-contest after Dean Ambrose entered the fray - but Mark Henry, attacked by The Shield on Raw, rushed to the ring to the send the black-clad renegades into retreat.

Vince McMahon, meanwhile, supplied a shock when he announced that Vickie Guerrero would replace Booker T as Smackdown's General Manager, and Cody Rhodes pummeled Damien Sandow after rejecting the chance to act as the Duke of Decency's Money in the Bank briefcase protector.

WWE's next pay-per-view, SummerSlam, comes your way on Sunday, August 18. Make sure you catch all the action, live on Sky Sports HD Box Office.
