Punk was attacked by the former ECW head honcho's client Brock Lesnar last month, while he was forced to team with the newest Paul Heyman guy, Curtis Axel, on Monday Night Raw.
But if it seemed like the self-proclaimed "Best in the World" had soured on Heyman, that notion was quashed on Friday Night Smackdown when he leapt to the New Yorker's defence following an altercation with Alberto Del Rio.
World Heavyweight Champion Del Rio pushed guest commentator Heyman to the ground during his one-on-one clash with Punk, which resulted in a seething Second City Saint unleashing a torrent of pain on his Mexican foe - and both wrestlers being counted out.
Del Rio will defend his title against Dolph Ziggler at Money in the Bank on July 14 and the latter picked up some vital momentum by besting 3MB's Scottish grappler, Drew McIntyre, on Friday evening.

Elsewhere, Randy Orton defeated fellow Money in the Bank All-Stars combatant Christian, while Fandango, a competitor in the World Heavyweight Championship Money in the Bank Ladder Match in Philadelphia, saw off high-flying South African Justin Gabriel.
The Usos, meanwhile, vanquished Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow before being warned by The Shield that their dreams of snaring the WWE Tag Team Titles at Money in the Bank Kick-Off would end in failure.
Plus, Kaitlyn, due to interference from nemesis AJ Lee, suffered a shock loss to Alicia Fox - a result that irked the Texan so much that she chased Divas Champion and Money in the Bank opponent Lee out of the arena.
