Brandon Saad grabbed the winner with 27 seconds left in regulation to edge the Chicago Blackhawks past the Montreal Canadiens 4-3 at United Center on Friday night.
Goals from Michal Rozsival and Ben Smith had given Chicago a 2-0 lead, only for Brendan Gallagher, Sergei Gonchar and PK Subban to turn things around and put the Canadiens 3-2 up.
But Jonathan Toews tied the game at 04:18 in the third period and then Saad scored on a rebound of a Patrick Kane shot to seal a fifth straight win for the Blackhawks, whose goaltender Antti Raanta made 38 saves.
Also on Friday, Matt Beleskey struck the go-ahead goal at 08:28 in the third period to lift Anaheim to a 5-4 victory over the Minnesota Wild - sparing the Ducks' blushes after they had surrendered a three-goal lead at Xcel Energy Center.
And Bryan Little hit a hat-trick as the Winnipeg Jets strolled to a 6-2 win against the Colorado Avalanche at MTS Centre.
