Jeff Carter came to the fore with a goal and two assists as the Los Angeles Kings held off the Chicago Blackhawks to earn a 4-3 victory in game three of the Western Conference finals.

The reigning Stanley Cup champions twice took the lead through captain Jonathan Toews in the first period.

However, the Blackhawks were pegged back by Slava Voynov and Carter, with Tyler Toffoli scoring the tie-breaking goal.

Drew Doughty's third-period goal gave the Kings a cushion, with Patrick Sharp netting a consolation for the Blackhawks with five seconds remaining, as Los Angeles moved 2-1 up in the best-of-seven series.
