Nottingham Panthers moved to the top of the Elite League standings as they came back from a first period deficit to beat the Fife Flyers 5-3.

The visitors opened the scoring with a strike from Anthony Stewart at 6.47, but the hosts hit back with strikes from Kris Hogg (8.27) and Jamie Wilson (17.36).

With 61 seconds of the second period played the Panthers were back on level terms as Pat Galivan netted and they then restored their lead with a strike from Matt Francis at 27.28.

Two further goals from the Panthers in 72 seconds then ended the game as a contest; the first came at 54.16 from Robert Lachowicz with Francis adding his second at 55.28, although the Flyers did have the final say as Kris Hogg got his second at 59.20.

Meanwhile, the Dundee Stars maintained their impressive home record with a 5-3 victory over Braehead Clan on Sunday.

The Stars have now won their of their eight assignments on their own patch and moved ahead when ex-Clan player Mike Wirll struck on 7.46, before doubling their lead with a powerplay goal from AJ MacLean at 17.58.

A brace from Matt Baxter by the midway point doubled the Stars lead as he found the back of the net at 23.55 and then again on the powerplay at 29.47 - with no further goals in the period the hosts went in with a healthy lead.

In the middle of the third period the Clan scored three goals in three minutes through player/coach Jordan Krestanovich (two) and Pat Bowen to get themselves right back in the contest, although Ash Goldie quickly responded to put Dundee back in control.
