Jeff League: On the scoresheet for Sheffield Steelers
Sheffield Steelers retained top spot in the Elite League with a 3-2 victory over arch-enemies Nottingham Panthers on Saturday night.
Steelers forward Ashley Tait became the league's all-time leading points-scorer with one goal and one assist against the Panthers moving him on to 512 points.
Jason Hewitt and Jeff League were also on target for Sheffield, who powered into a 3-0 lead.
Matthew Myers and Eric Werner hit back for Panthers, who left empty handed on a night which saw no fewer than 118 penalty minutes dished out.
Coventry Blaze stayed second in the standings thanks to a 2-1 overtime triumph over the Cardiff Devils.
Also on Saturday, the Hull Stingrays clinched their first win of the season with a 6-3 success against the Edinburgh Capitals.
In Challenge Cup action, Fife Flyers continued their great start to the season, going well clear at the top of Group A with a 5-2 triumph over Dundee Stars.
