The Winnipeg Jets were 2-1 winners against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Florida as Kyle Wellwood scored in overtime to break the tie.

Greg Zanon scored the winner and Niklas Backstrom produced a 37-save shut-out in the Minnesota Wild's 1-0 win against the Colorado Avalanche.

The Detroit Red Wings beat the Vancouver Canucks 4-3 in a shoot-out in Canada while in San Jose, the Sharks won 5-2 against the Dallas Stars.
