Izod Center the venue for 28th annual summer spectacular

The 2015 edition of SummerSlam will take place inside The Izod Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey, WWE has announced.
The annual August extravaganza has emanated from Los Angeles’ Staples Center for the past six years but will return to the East Coast on Sunday, August 23, 2015.
The Izod Center has hosted SummerSlam three times before – 1989, 1997 and 2007 – while the venue also staged the 2014 Extreme Rules pay-per-view in May.
SummerSlam has been regarded as one of WWE’s ‘Big Four’ events, alongside WrestleMania, Survivor Series and Royal Rumble, since its debut show in Madison Square Garden in 1988.
The summer spectacular has been held in numerous cities across North America, including Philadelphia, Chicago, Toronto, and Boston, while the 1992 event took place at London’s original Wembley Stadium.
Highlights of the 27th annual SummerSlam in 2014 included Brock Lesnar defeating John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and Seth Rollins besting Dean Ambrose.
Bray Wyatt also conquered Chris Jericho in Los Angeles, while Roman Reigns edged Randy Orton, Paige won the Divas Title from AJ Lee and Dolph Ziggler beat The Miz to become Intercontinental Champion.
