Amy Williams: Heads to Sochi as a Team GB ambassador
Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams wants the British public to get behind their Winter Olympians like they did with the athletes at London 2012.
The retired skeleton champion will head to next year's Sochi Winter Games as an ambassador for Team GB.
Williams told Sky Sports News: "I'm massively honoured to be asked. You know you have to go out there representing Team GB, supporting the athletes, helping them and encouraging them."
"I hope we're still on that high (London 2012) and can move that on. A year to go to Sochi, Winter Olympics; let's get the nation rallying around the winter athletes."
Williams added of Team GB's gold medal opportunities: "We've got Elise Christie in out short-track speed skating who's world number one at the moment. Shelley Rudman has just gone and got a world championship medal in the skeleton.
"We've got our athletes out there, so if they can prepare really well the next coming year and get the support, you know we could be bringing home a few medals."
When asked whether she'd be returning to the sport Williams, who retired last year, responded with: "I miss it, I really do miss but for me, my body told me it was time to stop.
"So many injuries I've had over the years, off that high level of training. I feel happy to walk away and don't regret my decision."
