Olympic gold medallist resumes training

Austrian ski racer Hermann Maier has targeted the end of November for his return to the World Cup circuit, after recovering from a knee injury. The 36-year-old has resumed training after suffering the injury in March and is now focusing on his 14th World Cup season. "I'm not sad about coming back on the snow so late this year," Maier said on his website. "The winter will be long enough and since I'm only coming back to the World Cup at the end of November in North America (Lake Louise), we still have time." Maier has competed on the circuit since 1996, and boasts an impressive record, winning four overall World Cup titles between 1998 and 2004. The Olympic gold medal winner said he would concentrate his attentions on downhill and super-G when he makes his forthcoming return.
