Tony Cottee was a fans' favourite at West Ham in the 1980s, his boyhood club, but the story of how close he came to owning the club is less well-known.

Cottee's bid to help buy the club he loved is chronicled in his new book - Tony Cottee: West Ham The Inside Story.

Join us on Sporting Chapters to find out how in 2005 the former West Ham, Everton and Leicester forward formed a consortium that he hoped would take over the Upton Park and how close he came to fulfilling his goal.

Cottee also gives his frank and passionate view on West Ham's proposed move to the Olympic Park and discusses what he makes of the David Gold and David Sullivan era.

Also find out about his future aspirations - and why he's decided that management might not be the right road for him.

Sam Torrance

The Scot had a glittering playing career, winning 21 times on the European Tour between 1976-98, finishing fifth at the 1981 British Open at Royal St George's and playing in eight Ryder Cups - sinking the winning putt in 1985.

Soccer Saturday analyst and former Arsenal midfielder Paul Merson reflects on his battles with drink, drugs and gambling as he talks us through his book How Not to Be a Professional Footballer.

The 21-capped England international also reminisces on his early days as a youth-team player at Watford, his switch to the Gunners and how a trip to Bermuda culminated in him and Steve Bould being shunned by the rest of the Arsenal squad.

Merson explains how he managed to overcome his addictions, too, and about his current gig as a pundit with Sky Sports - which he describes as 'the second best job in the world'.

Leon McKenzie

Former Norwich striker Leon McKenzie discusses his book 'My Fight for Life', which takles his battles with depression, how he tried to take his own life during his time at Charlton and why he feels the PFA is not doing enough to support young players suffering from mental health problems.
