Newcastle Eagles overturned a first-quarter deficit to claim a 97-75 victory over Durham Wildcats in the first leg of their BBL play-off.

Scott Martin and Malik Cooke each contributed 20 points for the BBL Championship winners, with the former also capping a fine personal display with 13 rebounds.

The Wildcats started well, moving into a 24-20 lead at the end of the opening quarter, but Newcastle responded impressively to put themselves for a semi-final place ahead of the second leg.

Also on Friday night, Zaire Taylor's 22 points and eight assists proved crucial as the Worcester Wolves gained a huge first-leg lead over the London Lions with a 92-78 triumph.

Taylor managed 11 of his points in an astonishing two-minute burst at the Copper Box to put the Wolves in a strong position to reach the last four.

Leicester Riders also look on course to qualify for the next round, the reigning champions overcoming the Cheshire Phoenix by an 88-76 scoreline.
