BBL: Worcester and Sheffield both record victories, but Newcastle suffer shock loss

Worcester maintained their lead at the the top of the standings with a 100-86 victory over Durham in Sunday's BBL action.

Will Creekmore, who complimented his 32-point haul with 15 rebounds, and Alex Owumi combined for 62 points for the Wolves, who are now 10-3 for the season.

Devin Ginty topped the scoring charts for the beaten Wilcats with 21 points, while Paul Elderkin had 14 points and Ralph Bucci chipped in with 13 points and six assists.

Sheffield remain Worcester's nearest rivals in the standings after they saw off struggling Surrey United by an 88-70 scoreline.

Jeremie Simmons collected a team-high 20 points for the Sharks, who now boast a 9-2 record after a fifth win in a row, with Mike Tuck adding 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Sharks simply never recovered after slipping 28-16 down at the end of the first quarter; they have now lost all 11 of their matches this year.

Elsewhere, the London Lions saw their six-game winning streak come to an end, as they went down 82-73 to Glasgow.

The Rocks produced a pivotal 8-0 run late in the fourth quarter to turn the game around. Daniel Northern led all scorers with 26 points and eight rebounds

Cheshire registered an 87-79 upset against Newcastle, Victor Moses and Dominique Coleman providing 22 points apiece to help the Phoenix shoot down the Eagles.
