The Oklahoma City Thunder booked a spot in the Western Conference finals after eliminating the Los Angeles Lakers with a 106-90 victory in game five of their series.

Russell Westbrook led the way for the Thunder with 28 points, while Kevin Durant scored 25 and Lakers star Kobe Bryant notched 42 points in a losing effort.

Oklahoma City will face the San Antonio Spurs for a place in the NBA Finals after Gregg Popvich's side completed a 4-0 sweep of the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.

The Spurs swept the Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers in the first two rounds of the play-offs and have now won 18 straight games dating back to the regular season.

"It is going to be a mental challenge. We got to play a team that hasn't lost in a while," Westbrook said of the upcoming clash with the Spurs.

"We have to be able to win in San Antonio. They are a team that has been together for a while. I been watching them all playoffs and they got a lot of tricks."

Elsewhere on Monday, the Boston Celtics moved to within one game of securing a place in the Eastern Conference finals after 101-85 win against the Philadelphia 76ers put them 3-2 up in their seven-game series.

Brandon bass scored 27 points and Rajon Rondo dished out 14 assists as the visiting side were comfortable beaten at TD Garden.
