Scott Waites has reached the quarter-finals of the BDO World Championship after scoring a comfortable win over John Henderson.

Second seed reaches quarters, as does third seed Adams

Scott Waites has reached the quarter-finals of the BDO World Championship after scoring a comfortable win over John Henderson at Frimley Green. The Englishman beat his Scottish opponent 4-1 in their second-round match, which lasted only 45 minutes. Second seed Waites gave an efficient performance, but Henderson will be ruing his own showing after missing a succession of doubles. Waites, who has reached the last eight in each of the last two years, will play Martin Phillips in the next round after he beat Paul Carter 4-2. Phillips, who hit six 180s en route to victory, said: "I watched him play against Martin Atkins and the intention was to hit him hard right from off and take legs off him but in fact that is what he did to me. "I am full of cold and was so hot up on stage and just wanted to get the match over as quickly as possible but Paul had other ideas." Meanwhile, third seed Martin Adams beat Daryl Gurney 4-1 to maintain his own push towards the final. The youngster proved no match for veteran Adams, who will now face Garry Thompson in the quarters. Thompson was similarly untroubled in his second-round match, beating Martin McCloskey 4-1.
