Speedway is in mourning after the death of Slovenian international rider Matija Duh.

The 23-year-old, who served as track reserve at the 2010 and 2011 Croatian SGPs, was injured whilst racing in Argentina at the Bahia Blanca circuit.

He was sent crashing into the tyre wall afer clipping former Italian SGP wild card Guglielmo Franchetti's back wheel at the end of the back straight.

The high-speed impact left him with a brain haemorrhage, skull fractures and a fractured hip and he was declared brain dead by doctors.

His family made the gruelling journey from Slovenia to Argentina to be at his bedside, but Duh lost his fight for life at 6am on Sunday morning.
