Lizzy Yarnold is aiming for a golden hat-trick at this week's skeleton World Championships in Germany.

Lizzy Yarnold admits her desire to be known as the best skeleton racer in the world is the driving force behind her World Championship aspirations.

Over the last 11 months, Yarnold has added the European Championship and five World Cup golds to her growing medal collection

But a year on from her gold medal success at the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014, Yarnold says she is desperate to come away from the World Championship in Winterberg with the one title that has continued to elude her.

“It absolutely is the one elusive title of my whole career,” Yarnold told Sky Sports News HQ.

“Three years ago I got a bronze medal at the World Championships and I’d really love to better that.

“Winterberg is a track that I love and to do it all within 13 months, to have all the titles within 13 months would be a huge moment for me.

“It would be a huge privilege to bring it back to Britain again. To be the world champion and to be able to say that I’m the best in the world be phenomenal.”

Laura Deas and Rose McGrandle join Yarnold in the women’s World Championship squad, having both had excellent individual seasons.

Welsh slider Deas won two World Cup medals in her debut season at senior level, while McGrandle claimed the bronze medal at the European Championships in La Plagne.

All three of GB’s female sliders finished in the top 10 overall during World Cup competition.
