Manchester United v Liverpool – Sky Sports 1, Sunday 14th December (12.30pm)

One of the biggest games in English football headlines the weekend’s action on Sky Sports when fierce rivals Manchester United and Liverpool go head-to-head at Old Trafford. The two most successful sides in the country may not be at their best, but this is a fixture where form goes out of the window and, considering the state of their defences, goals are almost guaranteed.

Arsenal v Newcastle – Sky Sports 1, Saturday 13th December (4.45pm)

No fixture represents the rollercoaster relationship between managers and fans than Arsenal against Newcastle. The Toon Army had grown tired of Alan Pardew’s reign only for the Magpies to win six league games out of eight, a run that culminated with victory over leaders Chelsea. Some Arsenal fans hurled abuse at Arsene Wenger following their defeat at Stoke and the Gunners then cruised to a Champions League win over Galatasaray in midweek.

Swansea v Tottenham – Sky Sports 1, Sunday 14th December (3.30pm)

Goal grabbing Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson will be the centre of attention at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Sigurdsson spent two seasons at Tottenham after his first Swansea stint and has netted twice for the Swans since his return. Tottenham have won the last five meetings between the two clubs, winning 3-1 at the Liberty a little over 12 months ago.

Everton v QPR – Sky Sports 1, Monday 15th December (7pm)

A home win is on the cards on Monday night when Everton host QPR. The Hoops may have won three of their last four games, but they’ve lost all of their away outings this term. However, the highlight of the evening might just be the chance to watch Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville dissect the Manchester United v Liverpool derby, and each other, on Monday Night Football.

Saracens v Sale Sharks – Sky Sports 2, Saturday 13th December (5pm)

English duo Saracens and Sale renew acquaintances in the European Rugby Champions Cup one week after they faced off at the AJ Bell Stadium. Saracens came out on top that day and they’ll expect another victory in front of their own supporters. Sale currently prop up Pool 1 with just two points, while Saracens are level with Munster in second.

Wasps v Castres – Sky Sports 2, Sunday 14th December (12.30pm)

It was a great weekend for the English clubs in the European Rugby Cup last time out and Wasps were one of six teams to record a win. Wasps beat Castres 32-17, bagging a bonus point that keeps their qualification hopes alive. Castres are the opposition again on Sunday and another comprehensive Wasps win is on the cards.

There are four European Rugby Champions Cup matches live on NOW TV this weekend.  On Saturday Pool 4 pacesetters Glasgow Warriors and Toulouse collide, before Clermont Auvergne and Munster battle for Pool 1 supremacy on Sunday.

Sri Lanka v England – Sky Sports 2, Saturday 13th December (4.15am)

England will level the seven-match one-day series with Sri Lanka at 3-3 if they achieve a second successive win on Saturday morning. Joe Root hit a century and Chris Woakes took 6-47 as the tourists beat Sri Lanka by five wickets in midweek. James Taylor hit 68 of 90 balls as England chased down the 239 run target with five balls to spare.

Amir Khan v Devon Alexander – Sky Sports 1, Sunday 14th December (2am)

Two former world champions go toe-to-toe in the early hours of Sunday morning. Amir Khan tops the bill in Las Vegas for the first time when he faces Devon Alexander in a welterweight contest. Khan has targeted a future fight with pound-for-pound great Floyd Mayweather, but a queue of challengers is already forming for the Bolton boxer, including WBA Champion Kell Brook.

Middlesbrough v Derby County – Sky Sports 1, Saturday 13th December (12pm)

The Championship is tighter than ever, which is saying something when you consider just how competitive the second tier is. Six points separate the top six and leaders Derby are just two points clear of Saturday’s opponents Middlesbrough, who currently lie fourth. Middlesbrough scored five last time out and have gone seven games unbeaten, while Derby have won four in five.

Real Sociedad v Athletic Club – Sky Sports 5, Sunday 14th December (8pm)

Basque rivals Real Sociedad and Athletic Club cross paths on Sunday night. The near-neighbours may be languishing in mid-table but this La Liga clash is always a passionate affair. The hosts, now led by former Manchester United manager David Moyes, have won three of the last four meetings and it’s three years since Bilbao won in San Sebastien.
